Welcome to the
Wish Guardian Press Kit

Wish Guardian is an upcoming Farming Sim + Tower Defense + Role Playing game. By mixing all these mechanics, we create a singular game experience: farming with a purpose. Everything a player farms becomes supplies to fight cursed wraiths in the mines with tower defense combat, which then unlocks new resources upon winning. In your off time, connect with a diverse cast of NPCs and participate in complex storylines.

Development News

Wish Guardian has been under development for over a year. During that year, we have made the basic farming, tower defense, and role playing systems.

Crops and Towers

All towers come from either solely mushrooms, or a combination of mushrooms and other materials. There are three main mushrooms in Wish Guardian: woolly mushroom, fire mushroom, and ice mushroom.

The woolly mushroom is a staple crop in Wish Guardian, needing only three days to grow. Harvesting the woolly mushroom will give the player plant fiber, a necessary ingredient in golem creation. Golems are slow, but heavy-hitting.

The fire mushroom is one of the slower growing crops, taking five days to fully grow. Fire mushrooms are a necessary ingredient in fire towers. Fire towers are fast, but with low damage.

The ice mushroom takes four days to grow. Ice mushrooms are a necessary ingredient in ice towers. Ice towers freeze enemies in their tracks, preventing them from moving for a period of time.

RPG

Our NPCs come from a variety of backgrounds, just like our team does. Here is example dialogue and images from two of our dateable NPCs.

Blue (they/them), a cursed outcast. Quote: if another adventurer draws their sword at me, I'm going to lose it.
T (they/them), an awkward prepper. Quote: What are you looking at? I mean... hello.

About Us

The Wish Guardian team, or Wishstone Productions, is a student or recently-grad team. For all of us, this is our first video game to actually work on publishing. Our goal is to make work we feel proud of, we feel represented in, and that showcases our talent. To get in contact, please fill out the form below.

Our Team

Carter Sargent

Hello everyone! I’m Carter Sargent (they/them), the team leader and head programmer. My focus is on creating a fun gameplay experience that is as accessible as possible. Wish Guardian is my dream game, and I’ve been working on it as a hobby since spring 2021. When I am not working on 700 different school and work projects, I love to chainmail mushrooms while rewatching the Great British Baking Show.

Jo Blanda

Hello! I'm Jo Blanda (they/them), the narrative designer for Wish Guardian and assistant copywriter. My main goal is to bring diverse storytelling to underrepresented voices, so that no one feels left out like I did when I was young. I’m a graduate from SCAD, with a BFA in Animation, and a focus in screenwriting. I adore all things fantasy, and am an avid Dungeons & Dragons nerd. I live with my cat Panna Cotta, poodle Arya, and African Gray parrot Jubjub.

Jacob Shaw

Hi, I’m Jacob Shaw. I do crop art, tower art, and some programming for Wish Guardian. I’m a first year RIT student, my major is Game Design and Development. Video games are one of my main hobbies, but when I’m not doing video games I might draw, read, or watch youtube videos. I came to this project to get experience with both art and programming for a game and to get co-op credit.

Isaac Feist

Hi, I’m Isaac Feist. I’m the co-art director, character designer and character animator for Wish Guardian! I love to make characters and think of their stories as I draw them. A lot of my free time drawing goes to drawing my D&D characters and stuff for the world I’ve created for my D&D campaign. I love video games, RPGs specifically, and I love animals. I am currently living with my two parakeets, Beaker and Paopu and my parents have two cockatiels and two standard poodles who I adore more than words can describe.

Joy Anderson

Hey! I’m Joy Anderson, and I’m a co-art director and Enemy artist & animator for Wish Guardian. I love creating cute things! It’s like my specialty, if you can tell from my wraith concept art. My biggest artistic inspiration is definitely My Little Pony. When I’m not creating cute creatures, I like listening to Taylor Swift and being gay besties with my girlfriend. We are both Evermore and Reputation stans, so if you ever need a friend to talk about Swiftology, I’m your pal :)

Lavender Vandewal

Hi <3 I’m Lavender Vandewal (they/them) and I am the social media project manager. I am going to be a fourth year college student at RIT, and I came to this project while looking for an internship for school credit. When I’m not writing post schedules I like to thrift and make my own clothes. I also love to skateboard, and I find myself posting our content at the park in between tricks.

Nick Pels

Hi, my name is Nick Pels, and I am doing quality assurance for Wish Guardian. I recently finished my classes at RIT, and am working on this project as an internship for school. In my free time, I like cooking, playing roguelikes, and watching animated shows. Sometimes I like to make homemade pasta, and I have a weird passion for cursed images.

Stephen Weihs

Hello! My name’s Stephen and I’m working as the composer for Wish Guardian. I’m a recent RIT grad with a Bachelor’s in 2D Animation and a minor in Music & Technology. I’m really excited to have this opportunity to blend my background in art with my passion for music! I take tremendous musical inspiration from contemporary hip hop, and from more cinematic film and video game composition. I’ll be personally drawing from the scores from Risk of Rain, Inception, and Interstellar for a lot of my work on this game.
